The selection of spot welding specifications for capacitor energy storage spot welding machine is one of the important factors determining welding quality. Generally, the following basic principles are followed in selecting welding specification parameters:
Material Physical Properties:
For materials with good conductivity and thermal conductivity, choose hard specifications with high welding current and short energization time. For materials prone to quenching, choose softer specifications or specifications with slow cooling or tempering treatment. When selecting electrode force, in addition to considering the size of the material’s strength and tendency to produce shrinkage defects at room temperature and high temperatures, the characteristics of the selected specifications should also be considered. Since the heating area is narrow and the deformation resistance of the welding area is high, a larger electrode force should be used.
Avoidance of Spatter during Welding:
Especially for important products, spatter should be avoided. Therefore, welding current and electrode force should be adjusted to ensure the required nugget size.
Product Structure and Quality Requirements:
For large thin-walled structures, in order to reduce structural distortion after welding, hard welding specifications should be used. For structures with high rigidity and poor assembly, soft specifications should be used to ensure good contact specifications before the joining surfaces melt and to avoid spatter.
Based on the above principles, the specific selection of welding specifications can generally be divided into two steps: the first step is to select various welding specifications, and the second step is to adjust the specification parameters through on-site process experiments to determine the optimal specification.
