Design and requirements of working platform of medium frequency spot welding machine


The medium frequency spot welding machine needs to be used with a working platform when welding larger workpieces. The quality of the working platform determines the quality of the spot welding machine’s solder joints. Generally, the design of the platform has the following aspects:

1. The flat working surface shall not have defects such as sand holes, pores, cracks, slag inclusions, shrinkage porosity, scratches, bruises, embroidery spots, etc. that seriously affect the appearance and performance.

2. The casting surface of the flat plate should be clear of molding sand, smooth and firmly painted. On flat working surfaces with an accuracy level of 0 to 3, sand holes with a diameter less than 15 mm are allowed to be plugged with the same material, and their hardness should be smaller than the hardness of the surrounding materials. There should be no more than 4 blocked sand holes on the working surface, and the distance between the sand holes should not be less than 80mm.

3. The flat plate should be made of high-quality, fine gray cast iron and other materials, and its working surface hardness should be 170~220HB. Flat working surfaces usually use a scraping process. For grade 3 flat working surfaces processed by scraping, the maximum allowable value of surface roughness Ra is 5 μm.

4. The flat plate should be demagnetized and stabilized. There should be threaded holes (or cylindrical holes) for installing handles or lifting ring devices on the two opposite sides of the flat plate, and the device location should be designed to minimize deformation caused by handling.

5. If a threaded hole (or groove) is provided on the working surface of the flat plate, its position should not be higher than the working surface. Welding holes should be set at the welding part to facilitate the contact of the electrode and the normal operation of the spot welder. This can also be achieved by using PLC control transmission.
