Cause analysis and solution of bad welding of capacitive energy storage spot welder


The use of capacitive energy storage spot welding machine will encounter poor welding or defects, which will lead to unqualified products or direct scrap, time-consuming and laborious. These problems can be avoided.

1. The solder joint is burned through

It is usually caused by excessive welding current, excessive difference in workpiece thickness and material, poor electrode head contact, insufficient electrode pressure, excessive workpiece or electrode pollution, and defects in the welded metal itself.

2, welding splash

It is usually caused by excessive welding current, poor electrode head cooling, insufficient electrode pressure, workpiece or electrode contamination, and excessive material difference in workpiece thickness.

3, solder joint indentation is too large

Usually due to welding current is too large, electrode pressure is too large, electrode end diameter is too small or end deformation, the upper and lower electrodes are not aligned or the end surface is not parallel.

4, the solder joint is too small or insufficient strength

It is usually due to the welding current is too small, the welding time is too short, the welding circuit contact is poor, the electrode pressure is too large, the workpiece or electrode pollution, the workpiece thickness and material difference is too large.

5, solder joints have burn marks or scratches

It is usually caused by the welding current is too large, the welding metal itself has defects, the electrode head cooling is poor, the electrode pressure is too small, and the electrode end face is rough.

6. The solder joint is cracked

The welding current is usually too large, the welding metal itself has defects, the upper and lower electrodes are not aligned, the electrode pressure is too small, the surface of the workpiece is too much dirt, and the equipment is improperly adjusted.

In the welding process, the temperature has a great impact on the welding, why so? The electrode will continue to be heated during the welding process, and the increase in temperature will increase the welding resistance, resulting in unstable phenomena such as burning through. According to the power and heat dissipation of the equipment, we need to choose air cooling or water cooling to ensure that the electrode temperature is stable in order to make the welding process stable.
