In order to obtain high-quality welding spot quality, apart from electrode material, electrode shape and size selection, IF spot welding machine shall also have reasonable use and maintenance of electrode. Some practical electrode maintenance measures are shared as follows:
Copper alloy shall be preferred for electrode material selection. Since the performance of electrode copper alloy is often significantly different due to different heat treatment and cold processing processes, electrode materials shall be selected according to different weldment materials and structures. Electrode materials purchased shall be processed into electrodes by themselves. Special attention shall be paid to the problem that performance of materials will deteriorate after improper processing. Therefore, Before processing, the performance parameters of electrode materials shall be learned from the production unit in advance. Electrode is the key point. If a spot welder electrode is properly designed, many welding processes can be solved. Of course, if the design is not reasonable, problems will be caused.
When selecting electrode, first select standard electrode. The shape and size of electrode shall be determined according to the structure and process requirements of weldment. For example, standard spot welding electrode and holding bar have the most forms. If proper matching is improved, it can almost meet the needs of most spot welding structures. Special electrode or holding bar is only used in special cases due to complex processing and high manufacturing cost. The electrode for spot welding shall be generally selected according to the characteristics of weldment.
Electrode dressing: electrode tip shape is closely related to welding quality. As the electrode end diameter increases, the current density will decrease, the electrode end diameter will decrease, and the current density will increase. Therefore, the electrode end diameter shall be maintained within a certain range to ensure the quality of the welding spot. However, continuous welding will cause the electrode top to be worn. The work of restoring the worn electrode top to a certain shape is called electrode dressing.
